Frequently Asked Questions

Is this for real?

Yes!

Who can apply?

How do you select recipients?

Awesome Piqua consists of a group of trustees. Our Board of Trustees meet three times a year on the last Monday of January, April and September, with special meetings as needed. During our meetings, the trustees review the submissions and vote for the most AWESOME project. The project, event, or idea with the most votes receives the $1,000 grant.

What kind of information should my application include?

We don’t need pages of information, but it’s important to demonstrate that you’ve given your idea some thought. How will you implement your idea? If it’s an event, do you know when, where and how it will take place? Is this something you or your organization can manage? Will you need additional funds to implement your Awesome idea?

What exactly do you mean by “surprise and delight”?

We are looking for new and exciting projects that have a “wow” factor. In addition, the project should be fun and bring joy, fun, and happiness to the citizens of Piqua.

Where does the money come from?

The grants come out of the pockets of the chapter's "trustees" and are given on a no-strings-attached basis to people and groups working on AWESOME projects.

Is this an investment or loan?

No! We provide grants - all no strings attached. Awesome Piqua claims no ownership over the projects we support and we do not wish for the funds to be repaid.

Will you support my project?

The only way to find out for sure is to apply — the application process is easy! But please keep in mind that we are focused on funding new projects which will make the Piqua community a better place in which to live and work...and promote its awesomeness! So, if you are an individual or organization who would like $1,000 to make something AWESOME happen in Piqua, let us know!

When will I hear back?

If you haven't heard anything within a few months of applying, it's likely your project was not selected. However, we will continue to consider applications from previous months so there is no need to reapply unless your idea has changed.

How can I get involved?

First and foremost, if you know someone with an awesome idea for Piqua, please send them our way.

If you are interested in becoming a trustee and contributing even more to the awesomeness of Piqua, please contact us at awesomepiqua@gmail.com.
